Adam Pratt
Pricing Strategy: With 20+ years of sales and marketing experience, I’ve developed a pricing framework that’s simple for my clients and profitable for my business. I’m looking forward to helping you grow in confidence to sell the value of your services.
Darla DeMorrow
Pricing Strategy: My pricing strategy is to use project pricing, as much as possible, to ensure that the only surprises my clients have are good ones. By looking at both the bottoms-up market pricing and the top-down need of my company, I’ve added services over the last 15 years. You, too, can have pricing confidence, repeat clients, a full-time salary, and profit for company growth.
Jill Yesko
Jill Yesko, CPO, CPPO, started her professional organizing business in 2003, leaving behind a lucrative HR career. Seventeen years later, Discover Organizing Inc. is proud to say that their photo department income constitutes almost 40% of their company's annual revenue. Jill will share her insights, methods (and yes, failures) that built these profits.
MASTER OF CEREMONIES
Beth Gibson Lilja
Pricing Strategy: My approach to pricing has definitely evolved over the past 20 years of business. Following the Photo Assets Analysis with a potential client, I write a Photo Management Plan that includes project workflow and recommendations. I analyze all possible costs (both tangible and intangible) as well as estimated hours associated with the project(s). I follow a checklist of possible costs. I then provide an overall project price. If the project goes beyond the original workflow, then we update the plan and adjust the cost accordingly.
PANELISTS
Sandra Williams
Pricing Strategy: My approach to pricing and estimating has evolved over my seven years in business, settling on a model that I am confident and comfortable with and has significantly increased my income. I offer a simple menu of hourly packages that are designed to encourage the larger projects that I prefer, yet still pay me a competitive rate at all package levels.
Adriana Baltar
Pricing Strategy: In my country (Brazil), photo managing is a novelty and poorly valued, besides a weak currency issue to deal with. I've been testing a variety of pricing methods and dealing with some value objections. At the same time I've been showing the importance of our job.
Julie Kessler
Pricing Strategy: Our pricing is based on 9 years of experience tracking our client projects, variables and outcomes. We use a strategy that takes into consideration whether the services/expectations are based upon a more typical scenario with limited variables, a customized offering or a combination. So our pricing can follow a package or it might be outlined within a proposal.
Rachel Arbuckle
Pricing Strategy: As part of a newer and growing industry, we were initially challenged by a lack of pricing benchmarks. We needed to understand that our approach to pricing had to focus on overcoming a huge educational hurdle for our clients. Helping them focus on the benefits of our services, instead of the nickels and dimes, has been a key factor to increasing our profitability. This education not only provides comfort to the client when they pay the invoice and throughout the project, but also demonstrates that we are knowledgeable experts in the industry and can price accordingly.
Jordan Babeon
Pricing Strategy: For me, digital photo organizing (DPO) is just another form of professional services and software consulting. I have spent my career leading and selling professional service engagements for global leaders like NetSuite and Oracle. I bring world class consulting methodologies and pricing strategies to my DPO business to set clear expectations with my clients and build a profitable business. I look forward to sharing my expertise and experience with you as we discuss pricing and profitability for photo managers.
Sarah Macnaught
Pricing Strategy: Trust and integrity underpin the value of photo management services and that sets up a business model that can charge a premium at all times for what we do. So when it comes to pricing and profitability, I choose to offer a pricing package that ensures clients value what I do, while also ensuring that whatever time and effort I put into bringing their family history to life is both fair and reasonable.
Laura Woolsey
Pricing Strategy: I needed to grow my small photo organizing business in order to keep up with increasing customer demand. That meant a larger office space, additional employees, and new equipment. Revenue took off but the increased costs and more complex business model proved challenging. By hiring a business coach who is an expert in profitability, I was able to gain laser focus on my numbers, understand my cash flow, and stabilize my business in a very short amount of time. Now, my profits are on the rise and my business is doing better than ever!
Karen Herman
Pricing Strategy: The traditional time for money pricing model of many photo organizers has never felt right to me. The value of the finished product is more important to my clients than how many hours it took to me complete the work. I’ve been tracking my time for over five years, and can factor in variables that determine why a project might take more or less time in order to quote more accurately. My business model (a work in progress as I transition from selling packages of time) includes a paid ‘Organized Photos Formula’ prior to beginning a large project. This includes an assessment meeting, itemized inventory, and beautifully designed plan which lists pricing for each phase of the project. I feel that demonstrating my expertise with a specific customized plan, and transparency with upfront pricing, is important for a good client relationship.

Nafissa Shireen: Getting Paid What You’re Worth
7:30pm - 8:30pm ET
Are you limiting your income by undercharging? It’s one thing to know what you want to charge (or to learn what you should be charging), it’s a whole other thing to actually charge it. Don’t let fear be the foundation for your pricing. Learn how your mindset and subconscious beliefs are affecting how you charge and what you ultimately earn. Learn how to master your mindset and start charging what your services are worth, and not what you think people will pay.

Darla DeMorrow: Unlocking the Mystery of Estimating and Pricing - Part 1
1:00pm - 2:00pm ET
Adam Pratt: Unlocking the Mystery of Estimating and Pricing - Part 2
3:00pm - 4:00pm ET
Darla and Adam will walk us through their processes of estimating and pricing based on two client scenarios. These case studies are based on real-life examples and will take you through the process from initial client contact to final delivery. You'll leave these sessions with an insider’s perspective on projects you can relate to.
Case Study #1 Barbara is a boomer who just inherited unsorted boxes of family photos and films. She is overwhelmed, but has promised her siblings she'd get the collection digitized and shared. Beyond viewing photos via iCloud, she's not sure what the final project deliverable would be.
Case Study #2 Carol & Tom are millennials who need help managing their digital photos. They have a "bunch" of hard drives, possibly duplicates of duplicates, and both only access photos taken on their phones. Identifying as "not techie," they are nonetheless willing to spend money on computers and drives.
